Sophomore Tim Egan threw 6 solid innings in the preliminary round of the Monmouth County Tournament against Long Branch.  Egan was perfect through 5 allowing a lead off single in the top of the 6th.  Ben Porricelli helped Egan’s cause with 2 singles and 3 rbi at the plate for Matawan who will now face Ocean on Saturday in the next round.

The Huskies staged a huge top of the 7th inning to defeat SJV 5-4. Jay Kalieta led off with an infield hit followed by RBI doubles by Jackson Hercek and Griffin Falco which started the 4 run rally. Danny Hirojo earned his 3rd win in relief of starter Tim Egan who threw 5 strong innings striking out 7. Hirujo got out of a second and third and 1 out situation with the tying and winning runs on base by inducing a pop up and line out to win the game.

Matawan 8 Raritan 5

Matawan fought back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Raritan by a score of 8-5 in the 6th annual Strike Out Autism game.

Raritan raced out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning on RBI hits by Jake Tennant, Jason Lind and Justin Kylik.

Matawan roared back in the bottom of the fourth inning, Huskies tied things up at five when Jackson Hercek singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Huskies notched five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ben Porricelli and Hercek, a sacrifice fly by Nick Trapani, and a 2 RBI double by Jay Kalieta. The Huskies went ahead in the bottom on the 6th on an RBI sac fly by Chris Gendi followed by a 2 RBI single by Christian Rivera.

Danny Hirujo earned the 3 inning win in relief of starter Tim Egan. Jackson Hercek recorded his first save of the year.

The Huskies fell to RBR on Thursday by a score of 9-8. Matawan couldn’t over come a 7 run Buc 4th inning which propelled them to victory. One of the bright spots for the Huskies was the pitching of RJ Clifton who threw 3 innings of scoreless relief, a great sight for a young man who missed all last season due to arm injury.

Huskies with a nice win over RBR 14-5. Danny Hirujo earned his first win of the season and Timmy Egan battled for 3 innings for the 9 out save. A team effort all around. Ben Palumbo, Jackson Hercek, Christian Rivera and Chris Gendi each had multiple hits to pace the offense.
