Matawan 8 Raritan 5

Matawan fought back from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Raritan by a score of 8-5 in the 6th annual Strike Out Autism game.

Raritan raced out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning on RBI hits by Jake Tennant, Jason Lind and Justin Kylik.

Matawan roared back in the bottom of the fourth inning, Huskies tied things up at five when Jackson Hercek singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Huskies notched five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Ben Porricelli and Hercek, a sacrifice fly by Nick Trapani, and a 2 RBI double by Jay Kalieta. The Huskies went ahead in the bottom on the 6th on an RBI sac fly by Chris Gendi followed by a 2 RBI single by Christian Rivera.

Danny Hirujo earned the 3 inning win in relief of starter Tim Egan. Jackson Hercek recorded his first save of the year.

Tough one…..

The Huskies fell to RBR on Thursday by a score of 9-8. Matawan couldn’t over come a 7 run Buc 4th inning which propelled them to victory. One of the bright spots for the Huskies was the pitching of RJ Clifton who threw 3 innings of scoreless relief, a great sight for a young man who missed all last season due to arm injury.
