Huskies roll in round 1
It’s playoff time and after reaching the state semi finals in 2014 and 15, the Huskies Continued their early round success with a big win over #6 Warren Hills. A host of Huskies helped in this one. Key sac bunts by Brandon Rivera and Makel Caldwell put runners in RBI position for Adam Elliott’s 1st inning double and Alex Cosentino’s 7th inning sac fly. Elliott threw 6 strong innings to pick up the win and Richard Joa picked up his 5th save on the year. Matawan is now 12-10
Happy Senior Day
The Huskies came through on a beautiful senior day with a come from behind 4-3 victory.
Anthony Hirujo upped his record to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.12 allowing 3 runs 1 earned over 6 six innings. Richard Joa struck out the side in the 7th for his 4th save.
Makel Caldwell and Alex Cosentino got the Huskies on the board first with 1st inning RBIs. Dylan Dobbin hit a monster shot triple to right-center to drive in Griffin Leibell (running for Chris Vetter who singled) and Richard Joa singled in Dobbin with the go ahead run.
Than you seniors and families for a great 4 years
Huskies Roll
Richard Joa and Brandon Rivera led the offensive charge and gave Colin Thompson all he needed as the Huskies (10-9) topped Raritan 5-1. Joa had a single, double, SB and 2 runs scored while pitching a scoreless 7th. Rivera collected 2 hits and 2 RBI. Colin Thompson [2-3] cruised through 6 innings allowing a run on 4 hits helped by the stingy Husky defense which again didn’t make an error and had some nice plays made by Alex Cosentino, Antonio Martinez, Eric Johnson and Joa.
