The Huskies get in the win column with a 5-1 win over Freehold Boro. Senior Jake Brigandi earns the win not allowing an earned run, scattering 6 hits over 4 innings while striking out 3. Sophomore Mark Kovach collected his 1st varsity save with 3 innings of scoreless relief striking out 6. Mike DiPietro had 2 rbi & Sean Hart had 2 hits, 2 rbi and 2 runs scored. Andrew Gendi had a hit, a rush scored, 2 sb while throwing out a Boro runner. Matawan is now 1-1.

Matawan dropped the opening round of the North 2 group 3 playoff falling to Millburn 4-1. Tim Egan threw 6 innings with one earned run and Luke Elliott had 3 hits in the loss. Matawan takes on Manalapan Friday in the round of 16 in the MCT.
