Matawan Huskies varsity baseball showed heart and class by taking the field one last time and defeating 18-4 Mercer County Champion Notre Dame by a score of 3-0. Nick Santuccio went 6 solid innings and Robbie Marshall earned his 8th save of the year. George Zirkel, Brian Leibell, and Shawn Johnson all picked up RBIs pushing Matawan ahead toward victory.
Times change, friends come and go, but you will always be a Husky.
We had the best start in school history. 14-4. We had some injuries, bad luck, a few bad calls, and a team wide hitting slump and didnt finish how we would have liked.
Thank you seniors for your dedication. Thank you underclassmen for your hardwork and we loom forward to next year.

Matawan finds new ways to win! Santuccio, DePaolo and Marshall held Carteret to 2 runs and scratched out 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 3-2 lead. Robbie Marshall in his 3rd inning of work, had a runner on 3rd with no one out in top of the seventh facing Carteret’s 3,4 and 5 hitters and STRUCK OUT the side!!!! What an ending on Senior Day 2013!!!
Matawan battled RBR to a 4-2 victory. Shawn Johnson came up huge pitching 6 solid innings giving only 2 unearned runs and collecting 2 hits of his own. Justin Harnett went 2-4 with 2 RBI. Matawan is now 11-3 : their best start in over 20 years….
The Huskies love playing away winning their 6th road game of the year by defeating Neptune 8-0. Justin Harnett, Nick Santuccio and Rob Marshall combined in the shut out effort. Dan Incle had 2 hits and an RBI and Anthony Principe added a 2 RBI single to pace the Matawan offense. The Huskies won their 10th April game.
