After a disappointing loss to Long Branch on Thursday, the Huskies bounced back in a huge way by defeating North Jersey group 3 and Morris County #7 Montville HS by a score of 2-1.
Adam Elliot pitched 6 solid innings striking out 5 scattering 5 hits. Mike Creamer came in to close the door for his first save of the year. Tied 1-1 in the top of the 7th, Cory Nusbaum walked, Kyle chapman ran for him and scored on an Alex Cella ground out.
The Huskies played a flawless game in the field and pitched effectively.
The team is now 5-3

Room for improvement
The Huskies had rough start to their break by losing to Wall 12-2. Matawan’s 7 errors in the field and several other mental errors didnt help their cause. Joe Piscopo stayed hot for the Huskies with. 2 more hits and 2 RBI
Huskies over Neptune
Nick Santuccio earned his third win of the year leading the Huskies over the Scarlet Fliers 6-3. He threw 6.1 innings giving up 4 hits walking 4 allowed 2 earned runs. Santuccio also drove in 2 runs as did Senior catcher Cory Nusbaum who had an rbi single and rbi sac fly. Adam Elliot earned his first save.

Walk off Willy
Billy Rodriguez was the offensive star with a triple and run scored and game winning single in the bottom of the 7th to lead the Huskies over RBR. Nick Smith continued to lead Matawan stellar pitching so far this season going 6 innings. Striking out 5 walking 1 2 earned runs allowed. Matawan is now 3-1.
Freshman win and JV too
Back to back wins by the Freshman baseball team in back to back complete games by Kyle Gamble and John Carelli
Jv defeated freehold 3-1 and rbr 13-0
Huskies lose 5-4
Matawan carried a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 7th but Freehold scored 3 times to win. But the game was lost earlier as Matawan had 18 hits yet failed to score after the 3rd inning. Adam Elliot, Joe Piscopo, and Alex Cella each had 3 hits.
