Big week for Matawan led by their pitching and defense with an aggressive offensive philosophy.
Brandon Falco threw 7 innings with 7k and no earned runs in a round win at Hopewell Valley. Andrew Gendi, Jack Sassa and others pushed the Huskies to a 6-1 win.
On Thursday Andrew Gendi’s CG on the hill combined with a strong defensive effort by Chris Galasso & Eric Friedman and the offense led by Sal Cassano, Jack Sassa and Joey Bodin pushed the Huskies to a 3-2 win over #1 Steinert. Matawan will face Lawrence HS in the semi finals on Tuesday.

Brandon Falco put the Huskies on his back en route to a complete game 2 hit O ER performance. Falco struck out 13 Blue Bombers to earn his 4th win at Arm and Hammer Park in Trenton

Matawan topped Colts Neck in the first round upset of the Monmouth County Tournament on Tuesday. Jack Sassa went 3-3 with 3 runs scored and Jayce Thoroughman pitched 3 2/3 effective innings in relief to earn his first varsity win.
Mark Kovach started for Matawan and battled through 3 1/3 and the Huskies made defensive plays when they had to as the offense came to life with Bryan McCartin providing 3 hits and 2 rbi and Sean Hart with 2 hits & 3rbi along with Joey Bodin’s solid defensive effort behind the dish to go along with 2 hits and an Rbi.
